Book Giveaway: Totally Wired
At BlogHer Business 07 in New York I met many interesting people. One of them was Anastasia Goodstein, author of the book "Totally Wired: What Teens and Tweens are Really Doing Online". When I heard what her book was about I told her we need to talk; I had been searching for information about internet safety and could not find enough information on the tween and teen markets. I had enough trouble just figuring out what sites my 8 year old should have access to now that I put his wireless card back into his laptop. I can't imagine what I will do when he starts wanting access to email or social networking.
The details of my question and answer session with Anastasia Goodstein is published on Techmamas.com. She also included links to some of the safer social networking sites as well as tips on talking to your tween/teen about their internet use.
BOOK GIVEAWAY: The first two Silicon Valley Moms Blogs readers who comment on this post will get a free copy of the book. Please make sure the email entered is a valid way to reach you.
Anastasia Goodstein will be in Burlingame, CA on Monday, April 16 at Books Inc for a book signing. The event is sponsored by Girls for a Change - a Silicon Valley mentoring program. When I looked at the site, I realized that I had seen two of the girls from that organization speak (yes speak) at a BlogHer 06 session. They were so composed and knowledgeable - the program must be working.
