Still SO, SO, SO Much To Do
I am a list person. I need lists, I love lists, I am totally useless without my lists. I schlep around a huge, heavy daytimer because I covet the written lists - not the typed, stored, set an alarm electronic kind. I must have my paper and pencil lists! Without a proper packing list, we would need several Tahoe Hybrid vehicles to pack all the last minute things I would randomly grab "just in case." See photo for details.
Of course, packing lists aren't nearly enough for me. Over the next 5 days I will make lists of what I need to do before I leave, what my kids will be doing where and when while I am away, what my husband will need to bring out when he joins me after the conference, who I will be visiting in California, where we will be staying during the legs of our journey, you get the idea... Thank goodness I am the last one to get picked up so all of my lists should be properly written and accomplished (where appropriate) before I leave. I am not a control freak, I just like to know things are in order. I blame it all on my terrible eye sight. Stick with me here, I have a theory.
Since I can't see the E on the top of the eye chart clearly without banging my nose on the wall, I am quite particular about things being where I expect them to be. No, my house is not neat and organized by any stretch of the imagination (so you can stop rolling your eyes mom), but I can find anything, anywhere at any time because I know where things are without having to see them. I have countless lists in my head to keep me from bumping into things when I run downstairs in the middle of the night to do whatever it is I forgot to do before I took my lenses out. I can also brush my teeth, wash my face and take 2 ibuprofen in complete darkness with no fear of brushing with soap or taking allergy pills by mistake (although you should NEVER take any medication without double checking the label - disclaimer).
My life is all about knowing things without having to see or think about them more than once, thus the lists. By thinking, writing, checking off, rewriting (because I always lose it at least once), I am guaranteed to get everything done. So here is tonight's list.
What I need to do before I can be seen on video -
Haircut (absolutely critical)
Manicure and Pedicure - just because they make me feel good and my mother will notice. My husband says I must make a point of showing everyone my feet if I am going to bother with a pedicure so be prepared to see my feet later
Wardrobe selection - Don't worry, I will not attempt this without the help of my daughters! I definitely am not capable of dressing properly without them.
Find a place to stay with hubby in Napa - don't want to sleep in the rental car! Just to clarify, this has absolutely nothing to do with video. I simply promised him I would get it done tomorrow.
OK - that should keep me busy tomorrow while I prepare the next list: What to pack (keeping in mind I am driving out but flying home)

I'm a die-hard listmaker too. I know exactly what you're talking about.
Taking away my lists would be like cutting off my right arm.

You need to get the Night & Day contact lenses that you wear while you sleep! I started wearing them a couple of years ago, and I feel like I've had my vision cured! It's so wonderful to wake up in the morning or the middle of the night and actually be able to see more than three feet in front of me.
Have fun getting all dolled up with the pedicure and haircut!!

I used to wear extended lenses. Ended up with a raging infection. Of course, that was back in the dark ages when they first came out; I am sure they are better now.
