Aviva on Board
OK, I am now officially part of the road trip. Sarah, Meagan and Devra were going to pick me up at my house in Loveland and whisk me down to Denver for the night before heading to Salt Lake in the morning. Of course, who knows better than moms that the best made plans...
Here is what happened instead. They called around 3:45 to let me know they were about an hour out. I laughed hysterically and told them to just go straight to Denver - there wasn't a chance in hell I would be ready. I picked my son up from camp at 4:45 (15 minutes late). I went home and frantically gathered up the last few items I needed while my son began a slow melt down. You see, I ran out of bread last night so his lunch was pretty lame and he was hungry! My husband got home about 15 minutes later to a house with a crying boy, a frustrated daughter, a daughter on line (ignoring the rest), and a distracted wife. We, by some miracle, managed to get everything together, get some food (if you can call rice crackers and a Slurpee food) into everyone and get on our way to meet the ladies in downtown Denver. Fortunately, my mother was able to meet us down there to retrieve two of my children to stay with her for a week and loan me her laptop because the one I was supposed to use was being less than cooperative.
Suffice it to say, I am happy to now be in the hotel with my friends. Yes, I love my family and I will probably miss them once I have unwound enough to think about it. For now though, I am glad we survived the day and everyone seems to be happy with how things turned out. Some days, it's best to focus on that, rather than how we all got there (or here)!
Watch for Aviva and Devra to be doing the mountain driving tomorrow - the flat landers just aren't cut out for it...
Aviva
If I were on the trip, I'd appreciate the mountain woman doing the driving. I'm a flatlander, too. I could do all the bridges, though!
