Ode to Chocolate Eggs
It is that time of the year again. Spring is in the air and Easter is here. That means an abundance of some of my favorite things- spring flowers, bright colors, beautiful weather, and chocolate eggs. I admit it. I am a chocolate egg addict and my love of chocolate eggs is embarrassing during this time of year.
I can’t resist Cadbury. I hoard Cadbury Mini Eggs and Cadbury Crème Eggs. I ration them after Easter ends since they won’t appear again until next year. Don’t ask how many packages I’ve stashed away. I won’t answer for fear of having to enter a Cadbury support group.
My husband just returned from England, home of Cadbury. He presented me with a winner of a gift- a Cadbury gift package containing Crème Eggs and a giant egg that is bigger than our 4 year old daughter’s head and somewhat intimidating. His dedication to bring me Cadbury scored major points. The box took
up his entire rolling suitcase so I’m not exactly sure what happened to the rest of his clothes, but it is a beautiful gift.
It isn’t just Cadbury that I love during this time of year. I must also profess my love of See’s Candy. As a native Californian, my love of See’s runs deep. It is in my blood. I can identify each kind of See’s candy in any size of prepacked box and around Easter, I ask my parents in California to send a care package filled with See’s Buttercream Eggs. There is something about the yellow box with the cellophane window that shows off each egg with its delicate candy flower. I admire the perfection of the See’s Buttercream Egg until Easter and then I dig in and relish each bite.
I have a problem. I don’t have any trouble admitting it. I’m a mom who is addicted to chocolate eggs. I just hope my children don’t inherit my strong addiction but fear it is too late!
