Mining The Gold, Dad Discovers Buried Treasure and You Can Too
While Devra is here, or here, or possibly even here... The Huz is in da house!
I don’t know about anyone else, but Fall is the season for me - football, back to school, and windows open all night long! However, what I look forward to most this time of year is asking our kids about their day at school AND searching through stacks of take-home papers for hidden treasures – their artwork. Our kids’ artwork serves as a window into their world and connects me visually with their thoughts, feelings, and emotions. In fact, yesterday Son One found some “lost” artwork which drew my immediate attention.
It was a pleasant surprise – you know the feeling – when you find a “lost” $20 bill in an old pair of jeans or when you bump into an old friend that you haven’t seen for years. His artwork contained a kaleidoscope of color and said “I love my mom & dad." That “treasure” made my day as did the look on our child’s face when he “re-connected” with the source of his original inspiration. I’m always amazed by our kids’ fountain of creativity and carefree innocence. They remind me on a daily basis why I’m so proud of them and so honored to be their dad. Now’s the time to locate those refrigerator magnets, push-pins, and magnetic clips - make your kids an art gallery of their own using your appliances, walls, doors, and more – no vertical surface is safe from display.
So, remember to dig deep through those piles of school paperwork as,“There’s gold in them thar backpacks!”
