Breastfeeding Mothers are "Lazy and Narcissistic?"

603pxbreastfeedingiconme Hi, D.C.-area breastfeeding moms!

I just wanted to bring you up to date on the latest in late night HBO comedy, because I know you're a teensy bit tired to catch the shows with 2 a.m. feedings.

Bill Maher says if you breastfeed in public you're lazy and narcissistic.

It's not that his red-blooded American maleness doesn't admire nice breasts.  We know from his monologues that Maher is a breast man from way back.

Maher is happy to ogle them all day long when he makes one of his visits over to Heff's place.   But if he's chowing down on some appetizers at Applebee's, he says cover-up or go home.

And, for good measure, he believes that women who take on the cause of fighting for or protecting the

rights of women to breastfeed in public are just "petty and narcissistic."

Now, I know lots of people have strong feelings about women breastfeeding in public, but Maher and his staff ought to know better than to make fun of what is a legal right in most places.  I agree with him that we have so many other more important things to be focusing on right now, so why spend several prime time minutes on this?  Anything for a cheap laugh, I guess.

That is, unless Maher ever comes across a former Playboy centerfold breastfeeding when he's dining out.  I'm sure he'd change his tune then.

For more political punditry, stop by Joanne's personal blog, PunditMom or The Huffington Post (maybe fellow HuffPo blogger Maher will stop by, too)!
