Valerie Plame, Ex-Spy and Mother of Twins
I have been following the Valerie Plame case for some time. In July 2003 her name appeared in the newspaper, destroying her cover as a U.S. spy. There was also a campaign to discredit her husband. Plame accused the Bush administration of "recklessly" blowing her cover. The situation became even more engaging after she recently testified before the congressional committee. Listed below is her argument against being the person that used nepotism to send her husband on assignment to Nigers. The argument was published recently in the LA times:
"Rather, Plame said, the idea was proposed by another officer in her division. She said her only role was to ask her husband whether he would be interested.
"I was somewhat ambivalent at the time," Plame said. "We had 2-year-old twins at home, and all I could envision was me by myself at bedtime with a couple of 2-year-olds."
Now, being a mother of twins myself, I believe that is the best argument possible. No mother of 2-year old twins would ever think of sending her husband to another country on an assignment. Especially the other side of the world! Come on, give it up Administrative officials - she is telling the truth. Ask any mother of twins.
