B.Y.O.B.O. - No Thanks!
We live very close to the Jersey Shore (specifically Long Beach Island), and, with the onset of summer, my family and I are used to seeing people in various states of dress (or undress) in the stores. It is not uncommon to see people just, well, HANGING out (literally!) while shopping at Wal-Mart or even inside the bank. It's a little much to see Grandma's massive chest or Miss Thang's perky barely covered tatas while shopping for laundry detergent but, hey, whatever floats your boat. But, what really *really* freaks my crap is when people stink. As in smell. BADLY.
"Ooooh that smell
Can't you smell that smell
Ooooh that smell
The smell of death surrounds you"
"That Smell" - Lynyrd Skynyrd
A lot of people go shopping after spending the day poolside or even on their trip back from the beach. I know sometimes situations change and a quick run to the store is necessary. But please - for the love of everything holy and sacred, apply some of that deodorant! Nothing smells as horrible as crusty stinky BO. It is odoriferously offensive!
The girls and I had stopped at the local supermarket to pick up some deli meats, bread, and some allergy-safe butter for Youngest. We wandered around, browsing through the cards (Eldest's 12th birthday is tomorrow ) and also people watching. It's quite humid outside thanks to four days of rain. While unloading my cart, the man who was in front of me had left the line to pick up something. So, I waitied for him to come back. He was only gone for a few moments and then he got back in line, breezing past me, leaving a horrible trail of stench in his wake. I gagged. It was awful. The girls visibly flinched when he passed them too.
My question is this: Do people actually realize they smell? I left the house one day without deodorant and realized it as soon as I got to work. When my lunchtime arrived, I rushed to the nearest convenience store and paid an obscene amount of money for a travel-sized stick of deodorant. I felt naked without it. How can they leave the house without it?
