Blame it on My Mother

Blame A recent study is stating that if a woman is stressed during her pregnancy it might cause the child to have allergies or asthma.  Yet another reason for our kids to blame us for what goes wrong in their lives. Every second of my day is devoted to my kids. Making sure they eat the right foods, read the right books, brush their teeth, have manners, look pretty, blah blah blah !!! If my child gets a cavity, I feel responsible. If my child gets sick, I think back of what I could have done that caused her to catch the cold. Every time I raise my voice at her, I later think of how I have seriously damaged her. So now we can add asthma and allergies to the list of things that are our fault.

Aren't most woman a bit stressed out during pregnancy? I mean, if it is your first your stressed out over the worry of can I do this ? Will I be a good Mom ? Holy freaking cow, giving birth, doesn't that hurt? I was working in NYC and commuting from New Jersey when I was pregnant with my first. The first trimester I was sick as a dog, commuting 2 hours each way was hell. Stressed out, YES. The last trimester I was huge, and I had gestation diabetes . Oh, and it was July. July in the city, pregnant, huge and on a subway. Stressed out ? YES.

If it is your second pregnancy you are most likely chasing a toddler around. Add to that morning sickness and then a huge belly and once again I say STRESSED.

I am not sure how this study will help, I leave that to the scientist, but I really hope all the stressed out pregnant women can relax while reading that article.

This is an original post for New Jersey Mom Blog. Fiona Charles is a pen name. She writes over at mommyvents were she tries to get all her stress out by venting on her blog.

wow, I can feel the stress all the way over here! I don't think you can blame a mother for all of these things.. that's just nuts! How can a woman be relaxed during pregnancy? really? This study seems to provide nothing but more STRESS! Sure, stress takes a toll on the body to some degree, but this study well.. you can't blame everything on your mom :)

I can't believe these doctors who continually find new ways of increasing our guilt. It's enough to make you want to stop reading the science section.

I was a stressed pregnant woman! That is because I was in the hospital admitted from 25 weeks onwards till 32 weeks and after just one week back home, I had the twins because my BP soared so high that I could have got stroke.

Well, the advantage of being stressed was that one of the girls needed no oxygen! yay!
Other need CPAP for couple of days and we were home in less than 3 weeks! yay!

And no they have no asthama or allergies and they are 2!!!!!!
