Going For Gold
Picture yourself standing on a rich, green meadow, breathing in the crisp, autumn air on a beautiful October day in the country. In your hand is a plastic champagne flute filled with bubbly mimosa and on your head is a gorgeous hat that just about screams Julia Roberts.
You are right on the rail. You can feel your heart beat and the ground shake as the horses race past you toward the finish. You jump up and cheer as the crowd goes wild. You can't jump too high though because you've got on brand new to-die-for shoes to compliment that delicious hat.
You want a change of pace so you leave your spot on the rail and head up to Member's Hill where people watching is a form of art. You actually need to pay an extra fee to breathe air among these people so don't forget your best smile for the photographers flocking about. Didn't have a hat to wear to the race today? Never fear, you can purchase one here on The Hill.
The view is breathtaking. The food is catered. The tailgating is professionally judged. The beautiful and the rich are delightfully on display.
Where are you?
You are at the Virginia Gold Cup ...or at least you should be! Meet me there this October 20th on the South Rail. It's one of the best times to be had in the DC Area.
You can also find Kimberly in Petroville where she lives and writes daily.
